The Plains

Notes

Fan Favourite, First Born

Splungfarts are generally peaceful creatures that roam The Plains in the daytime.

Some people decide to train and domesticate them as they can make loyal, loving, and longterm companions, but it takes a bit for wild Splungfarts to warm up to being around humans.

Splungfarts will not attack you unless they feel truly threatened by you, which unless you are actively trying to harm them, you won't have to worry about. They are smart enough to understand when something is an accident.
When a Splungfart feels the need to protect itself, it will unhinge its jaw, ripping the flesh on its cheeks, and will pursue its aggressor for as long as 7 hours (or until it feels safe). When caught, the Splungfart will tear its target apart limb from limb to make sure it won't be a problem again.

Diet

Their diet consists of overgrown vegetation, fallen fruits, and grass. They will happily graze in the average garden if you let them outside for a while. Splungfarts are very important to the ecosystem and will greatly improve your garden health in letting them roam.

Habitat

> A cold domesticated Splungfart all wrapped up.

The Plains are the preferred home of Splungfarts, Its just the right amount of overgrown, and is right next to The Forest which acts as a cover from harsh weather. In winter, a pack of Splungfarts may also hollow out a nearby hill and use it as shelter. For domesticated Splungfarts, winter comes a little easier if you have centeral heating! You can purchase coats, pants, and thermal socks to ensure your Splungfart stays cozy during outdoor time.

They thrive during spring and mild summers. In excessive heat they will hang around any shade near bodies of water like rivers or lakes until it cools down again.

Packs

You can usually find Splungfarts in packs of 5 - 6 in the wild, this makes socialisation very important for them. They will typically play different roles in a pack, for example one being the protector while others build or forage. When in a pack the Alpha Fart is more cautious of any humans that may visit, meaning you will need to be extra careful when interacting with a group.

Care

> Two Splungfarts bonding in a garden.

Owning a Splungfart can be scary at first, but Splungfarts communicate their needs very well. If you start to doubt yourself, pay a little more attention to your Splungfart, you may just notice its trying to tell you something!

Social interaction is very important if you want your Splungfart to be happy and healthy! Get together with fellow Splungfart owners and let them play at least once a week for the best results in behaviour. If you find your Splungfart denying food or water, this is usually the first thing that will help improve its condition.

Praise

Splungfarts enjoy being pet on the head and belly, their feet are very ticklish though. Be careful as they might accidentally harm you if uncomfortable. If you would like to give your 'fart a treat, a fresh refrigerated Apple or Orange is very much enjoyed! While wild Splungfarts may come across fallen fruit more often, domesticated Splungfarts see fresh fruit as a delicacy.

Hygiene

> A young Splungfart being bathed.

In the wild, Splungfarts apart of a pack will clean eachother. Due to their limited neck mobility, they tend to struggle to clean themselves on their own. To keep your house smelling fresh, make sure you bathe your Splungfart regularly! Even a quick hose down in the garden during summer can be benefitial for them and help them cool down.

With a fresh and healthy diet, their flatulence will have no smell! This is a common misconception with Splungfarts, If you notice your Splungfart smells unnatural, get it seen to at your local Veterinary Centre.

Birth

This species births live young, they are mammals! If you notice signs of pregnancy in your Splungfart, don't panic. Make sure that they have a comfy area they can rely on when the time comes. Blankets and soft pillows are good for this situation, your Splungfart may also require extra attention during this time. When the birth arrives, you will be the proud owner of 1 - 3 Splugs! The mother will take care of them for the most part, Just make sure you pay attention to their health incase of any complications.
